The Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand has been visited by Mr. Teoh Seng Lee, the Honorable consul of Russian Federation on Penang (Malaysia).
Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand was visited by Mr. Teoh Seng Lee, Honorary Consul of Russian Federation on Penang (Malaysia). During the reception Representative of Russian Orthodox Church hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) told the guest of honour about contemporary activities of the Representation and the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand, and about some future plans. Mr. Teoh Seng Lee showed great interest and was especially concerned about building an Orthodox temple on Phuket in south Thailand. As the Phuket island is located quite close to Penang, Mr. Teoh Seng Lee expressed a wish to visit Phuket and get acquainted directly with local Orthodox community's way of life and the current state of temple construction. In turn, Mr. Teoh Seng Lee recounted about some Russians living in Malaysia. Generally they are women married to Malaysians. According to the Honorary consul of Russia on Penang Mr. Teoh Seng Lee, most of them, unfortunately, have converted to Islam because it is quite complicated to conserve religious and national identity in a muslim country like Malaysia. The meeting was attended by Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand's assistant, Dr. Vladimir Buntilov.

There has been a session of parish assembly of St. Nicholas' Chapel, on which a decision was made to purchase a parcel of land for the parish in Bangkok and construct an Orthodox church on it.
In Bangkok, after a Sunday Divine Liturgy, a parish council's session of St. Nicholas' chapel took place. On this session a decision was made to purchase a parcel of land in Bangkok and to construct an Orthodox temple there. Taking into account strategical and developmental importance of Orthodox Church having property in the Kingdom's capital and extremely high price of estate property, this task should be carried out by parish council of the chapel, the committee of Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand and by Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin).

A meeting of Orthodox believers took place in Phuket. A decision was made to organize an Orthodox parish on Phuket in the name of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity and admitting it to Orthodox Church in Thailand.
In Phuket (Phuket province, Kingdom of Thailand) a meeting of Orthodox believers took place. More than 30 people participated in the assembly. A decision was made to organize an Orthodox parish on Phuket in the name of Holy Life-Giving Trinity, and to include it in Orthodox Christian Church of Thailand under the jurisdiction of Moscow Patriarchate. The administrative organs of the parish were appointed, and the Charter was adopted and sent to metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad Kirill, Chairman of the External Church Relationships Department of Moscow Patriarchate. Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) also participated in the session of parish council.

In Pattaya (Chonburi province, Kingdom of Thailand) a meeting of Orthodox believers took place. During this session a decision was made to organize an Orthodox parish in Pattaya in the name of All Saints, and to include it in Orthodox Christian Church of Thailand under the jurisdiction of Moscow Patriarchate. The administrative organs of the parish were appointed, and the Charter was adopted and sent to metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad Kirill, Chairman of the External Church Relationships Department of Moscow Patriarchate. Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) also participated in the session of parish council.

Represantatives of Orthodoxy in Thailand attended a diplomatic reception on the occasion of the Pope, pontifex Benedict XVI's third anniversary.
Chairman of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Committee, Mr. Danai Wanna, Chairman of the Represenation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), Vice-chairman of St. Nicholas' Chapel of Bangkok's parish council Mr. Mayari de Valeri, and psalom reader of St. Nicholas' chapel of Bangkok Dr. Vladimir Buntilov, by Nuncio of Vatikan's invitation in the country, attended a diplomatic reception on the occasion of Pope Benedict XVI's pantificate's third anniversary. The reception took place in the «Oriental» hotel. The Orthodox delegation left a befitting record in the guestbook.

A session of committee of Orthodox Church in Thailand took place and a question of appropriateness of visiting festive Catholic Mass was examined.
A session of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Committee took place, concerning the appropriateness of attending the festal catholic mass in Cathedral of Virgin Mary's Assumption on the occasion of Pope Benedict XVI's pantificate's third anniversary. The invitation to the mass was sent to Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand from cardinal of Bangkok, archbishop Michelle Kitbunchu and Pope's Nuncio in Thailand archbishop Sevator Penaccio. The committee decided to abstrain from attending Catholic divine service. Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) participated in the committee's session.

The first session of committee of Orthodox Church in Thailand has taken place.
On the occasion of state registration of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand there has been the first session of church committee where organization questions were examined. Mr. Danai (Daniel) Wanna, graduate of Theological Seminary of St. Petersburg, was appointed chairman of the committee, Ms. Kurlap (Kira) Wongsurin-Trostinskiy - treasurer, Mr. Kwanchai (Nicolas) Manichat - secretary of the committee. On behalf of Orthodox believers of Thailand the committee unanimously directed an issue of initiation to His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia ALEXIS II with a request to admit Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand into the jurisdiction of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
