A plot of land has been purchased in Rachatburi province.

Chairman of the Christian Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation deacon Daniel Wanna had a working visit to Rachatburi province (about 100 km from Bangkok), where on behalf of the Christian Orthodox Church in Thailand he signed a purchase contract and acquired a plot of land sized 8200 sq.m. In that land the parish of the Holy Dormition, theological seminary and Orthodox cemetery are planned to be constructed. After signing the contract, deacon Daniel Wanna met with the administration of the province's Land Department and offered them all the necessary documents for the corresponding registration changes, as well as preparation for Governor of Rachatburi's Manifest for allowing to use the land for religious purposes, that is stipulated by the laws of the Kingdom. According to the Land Department's officials, it will take about 6 weeks to finish the official registration.

Dear brothers and sisters!
May God bless you!

Today I appeal to you in order to tell you good news and at the same time to ask for your help and support.

Through God's grace on February the 4th of this year our Church purchased a small, but quite sufficient for Orthodox chapel construction, plot of land in Pattaya, Naklya region, Soi Long Beach. This was made possible thanks to special donations of our parishioners, who, with more than just our personal gratitude, will be rewarded by God in this life and the Eternity. The acquired plot of land is practically ready for development, as it does not require considerable preparatory works.

But the Church can not afford it at the moment. All the money was spent on the land purchase. And now its every person's turn to offer their help for the good deed. This is our common job, and it is sinful to evade it. Please reveal your sincere wish to have God's church in practice.

At the earliest possible dates we would plan, as it should be done according to church canon, to sanctify that land. And, for the first time in Pattaya, in the open air at the moment, to conduct the Divine Liturgy. Undoubtedly, the date of the feast will be brought to everyone's notice specially and most broadly, right after its setting.

Now, without delay, please be so kind to donate for God's church in the fullness of your hearts. Let among all your initiatives in Pattaya be some help to God's church, as without God's blessing all human efforts are useless. Let in Pattaya be a sacred place, where God would purely accept prayers for your and your nearest and dearest's health and prosperity, and where we will be able to lay down our sins and, with a refreshed soul, continue our terrestrial path which leads us to the Eternal Life.

Please address your donations according to the following bank details:

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today I am happy and proud of you. Thanks to your help and support, Oksana Kalmykova managed to receive medical treatment needed. With God's grace, her terrible illness Hodgkin's lymphoma is now subsiding, as it is evident now. There is slow, but continuous improvement.

I am very glad that you responded immediately to the Church's appeal. This allowed to start intensive treating at the right time and provided for Oksana's recovery process.

You, my dear, in a very short course of time could gather a considerable sum of more than 600,000 Thai baht, impossible to handle for a single person, but affordable for those who united their efforts. I know how hard it is to make money, especially during the period of financial crisis and political instability in the country. I thank God for that the economic crisis didn't result for you in spiritual crisis and lack of sacrifice and love.

I would like to mention one thing specifically. Not only Orthodox people responded to the Church's appeal to help Oksana with her treatment. People with other religious beliefs also donated. I thank them exclusively. This is another proof of truth of our Church's position: strongly and permanently protecting the pureness of our faith, its traditions and customs, we must respect other people's beliefs, love and help each person in need without asking about anything but their needs. We should make people turn to Christ mainly by the example of our own life so that in our love towards nearest and dearest the divine light of Christ's love would reflect.«For God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son, and that whosoever believe in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.(John 3:16).

I am sure that in future each of you will save the responsiveness to other people's sorrow and misfortune.

All of you, Orthodox and non-Orthodox, those who love the Church and those who blame it, will always remain dearest and loved children for the Church. And those who are against God's Church will arouse our love and compassion even more.«Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.» (Luke 23:34).

Now big goals await for us. We came to Thailand not to take anything, but to give something. Sacrifice ourselves. Give all our love. Sacrifice our life. «Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends» (John 15:13). And this, my dear brothers and sisters, isn't pompousness. This should be a real aspiration in the life of an Orthodox Christian. And we have to strive for it.

May God bless all of you.

With permanent prayers,
Always yours in Jesus Christ,
hegumen Oleg

Helping Oksana Kalmykova

Christian Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation Committee heard the letter from Oksana Kolmykova who was treated with the help of donations. According to Siriach hospital's message, the required sum is 1,000,000 Thai baht. As for February 05, 2009, 601,402 ТНВ and 73 satangs have been collected. At present, 280,000 ТНВ have been already used for treatment. In accordance to Thai government's foundation regulations, as well as the goal of the donations "for treatment", Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation paid all the bills presented to the Foundation by Oksana.

Taking into consideration Oksana's improved health status, her responsible attitude towards those who donated and medical corrections done to her treatment process, Oksana Kalmykova requested the Foundation to stop receiving further donations, as she thinks that there already are sufficient financial means for her treatment. After a thorough discussion the letter from Oksana, Christin Orthodox Church in Thailand Committee decided to STOP RECEIVING DONATIONS for Oksana's treatment.

Further Oksana's medical bills will be paid using the available financial means. In case of an urgent necessity, the donations will be accepted again to help Oksana's treatment. The rest of the money (in case it would appear) will only be spent on similar goals, which in this particular case are emergency treatment help for those who cannot afford it themselves by objective reasons.

All the donators who helped Oksana with her treatment are authorized to request financial balance of their donations by addressing to the Foundation. The report will be presented immediately in that case.

Oksana Kalmykova thanks sincerely all those who helped her in trouble.

On behalf of the Orthodox Church in Thailand and the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation Committee we would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who helped. May God bless all of you. Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) addressed to all the donators with the following speech.

Oksana Kalmykova thanks sincerely all those who responded to Church's appeal and offered her financial aid

LAND PURCHASED FOR CHURCH CONSTRUCTION IN PATTAYA

Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) and Chairman of the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation deacon Daniel Wanna had a working visit to the parish in the name of All Saints in Pattaya (Chonburi province). The trip was related to the parish's decision about purchasing a plot of land in that city and Orthodox church construction.

After analyzing in loco all the variants offered and on the basis of financial opportunities, a land parcel of approximately 400 sq.m. (sufficient for church construction) was purchased in the northern part of Pattaya. In addition, it is possible to buy another plot of land of 200 sq.m., which adjoins the church land. Consequently, a contract of land purchase was signed and the Land Department of Pattaya officially registered a new landowner - Orthodox Church in Thailand.

Visit to charitable organization «Foundation Father Ray»

On Director General of Catholic charitable organization «Foundation Father Ray» priest Paten of Pattaya's invitation, Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) and Chairman of the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation Committee deacon Daniel Wanna visited the office of that organization where they had a conversation with the administrators and workers of the Foundation, and got acquainted with its social activities.

The organization was founded in 2003 by Catholic priest Raymond Allen Brennan (deceased 5 years ago), who was known in Thailand for his charity projects. «Foundation Father Ray» offers help to handicapped children and orphans. At present, the Foundation has more than 600 children to care for. Unfortunately, after Father Ray's death the donations for his charitable projects decreased considerably so that the Foundation had to appeal to the governmental authorities of the Kingdom. At the moment, state budget's financial aid makes up about 12% and is used mainly for teachers' salary. During the conversation, hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) told about his meeting with fr. Ray and attending the charitable foundation more than 9 years ago. As a gift to the employees of the foundation, deacon Daniel Wanna presented them Orthodox books of prayer published in Thai.

Aid was offered to a Russian citizen in Thailand

In response to Consulate of Russian Federation in Thailand's request for financial aid to the Russian citizen for her deportation to Russia, Orthodox Church in Thailand's Committee made a decision to grant 20,900 THB to cover the expenses of her air ticket. As Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand Representative hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) noted in his speech during the session of the Orthodox Church in Thailand Committee, Thailand does not deport foreigners at the expense of the federal budget, making them search for financial support themselves, thus making the detained stay unreasonably long in the custody.

It was also mentioned that in the process of financial aid constructive relationship was formed between Russian Consulate, Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation and Russian Orthodox Church Representation in Thailand. Appeals to the Church's help are not a standard move of the Consulate, but is only reserved for exceptional cases when no other options are available.

The Foundation's legal adviser Mrs. Promthida Charshuraksha (baptised as Paraskeva) said that, unfortunately, almost in all cases it has to deal with the foreigners (including Russians)' ignorance of the most elementary legislative acts of Thailand related to foreigners' stay in the country, and sometimes with lack of respect towards local laws, which sometimes brings dismal consequences.
