Deacon Daniel Wanna visited the branch of the Land Department on Samui, where he registered a new land property, and also filed the necessary documents for registration of the corresponding status of the land where the temple is to be built. In accordance with the Land Code of Thailand, the status of the proposed land on which to build the temple should be confirmed with the local, district and provincial government and a resolution be issued by decree of the Governor of the province. The typical term of registration of land takes 6 months, which however, does not prevent the use of land or construction of the temple.

It is assumed that Samui will also be included in the program celebrating the 10th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Thailand in December 2009. Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) expressed his deep appreciation to the parishioners who funded the full cost of the land and taxes to buy and initiate construction of an Orthodox temple on the island. The Committee of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation mandated the designs and estimates for construction of the church of Holy Ascension on Samui island.
