A service for the dead in Georgian-SouthOssetian was conducted in St. Nicholas' Chapel in Bangkok.
In St. Nicholas' Chapel in Bangkok after the Sunday Divine Liturgy a pannychida was conducted for the victims of Georgian-SouthOssetian conflict. 40 days ago, on 8th of August, 2008, Georgia attacked South Ossetia. Innocent civilians died, Russian peacemakers also fell victims in this conflict. During the pannychida people of different nationalities were praying: Russians, Ukrainians, Thais, Romanians, English, French... The common sorrow grew heavier with the news about Boeing-737 crash in Perm and new victims of the catastrophe. With the faith in God's mercy to the dead, Orthodox believers in Thailand prayed for the repose of the deceased. MEMORY ETERNAL TO THEM.

A public prayer was held for saving from "internecine wars" and for a quick and peacefil ending of political struggle in Thailand.
By the request of Orthodox believers, citizens of Thailand, in the Chapel of Saint and Wonder-Worker Nicholas, Arch-Byshop of Mira in Lycia, in Bangkok, after the Divine Liturgy, a public prayer was serviced for the deliverance from «internecine wars» and a quick and peaceful ending of the struggle.
In his appeal to the congregation after the prayer the rector of the chapel hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), particularly, said: «We all are observing the current events in the country with anxiety because, just like our Thai parishioners, we love Thailand. I am sure, - in spite of the diverging political points of view, the citizens of Thailand are united by His Majesty King Phumiphon Addulyadet (Rama IX the Great), who is a symbol of nation's unity, and a sincere love for the motherland. We appeal to the Almighty God to save this blessed land from riots and discords, and to give peace and prosperity to its people.».

INFORMATION ON THE SITUATION IN THAILAND. THE STATE OF EMERGENCY.
In connection with numerous enquiries to the Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand about the current political situation in the country, Representation of Russian Orthodox Church informs:
Until recently there were demonstrations of many thousands citizens united under the flag of "People's Alliance for Democracy" around the governmental institutes of the Kingdom with the claim to change of government. Contrary to them the actions of political forces supporting the current Prime Minister of Thailand Samak Sundaravej doubled. Police and the army are doing their best to keep law and order in this situation. The protests moved from Bangkok to some provinces. This way Phuket and Krabi airports were blocked, that caused considerable inconvenience for the tourists relaxing in Thailand, including about 3500 Russians. The government and the opposition managed to reach an agreement, and since evening of August 31st the airports were unblocked.

The opposition, insisting on the change of government, ignored the authority's demands. The Prime Minister of Thailand Mr. Samak Sundaravej said that the question of the oppisition's actions authorization had been submitted to the general referendum. On 6th of September, 2008 there were no marchers near the parliament building, so the driveway through the streets around the parliament was unblocked. An insignificant number of marchers were protesting on the square near Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V)'s monument.
Being located right at the center of the government district of Bangkok, Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) states that at the moment does not meet any difficulties with its functioning, and the divine service is conducted as usual.

The Representative or Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand (Moscow Patriarchate) visited the diplomatic reception on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.
By the invitation of His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Thailand Mr. Markian Chuchuk, Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) with Representative's assistant Dr. Vladimir Buntilov attended a diplomatic reception on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day. This was the first meeting of the Representative of Russian Orthodox Church with Ambassador of Ukraine in Thailand. Mr. M. Chuchuk was appointed to Thailand only in June 2008. Many of Ukrainian citizens who live in the territory of Thailand are parishioners of St. Nicholas's Chapel of Russian Orthodox Church (MP) in Bangkok, there are also Ukrainians in other parishes of our Church in Thailand. That is why Representation of Russian Orthodox Church and Ukrainian Embassy in Thailand have always been on good terms. In his conversation with His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg has expressed his hope for continuing and developing this mutual understanding, and, in turn, invited Mr. Markian Chuchuk to visit Representation of Russian Orthodox Church.

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE MOST HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. Orthodox Church in Thailand (Moscow Patriarchate) has received happy news. Today after Divine Liturgy in Cathedral of Smolensk Mr. Danai (Daniel) Wanna, Chairman of the Committee of Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand, has been ordained as a deacon by His Eminence Kirill, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad. Orthodox believers of the Kingdom with all their heart congratulate father deacon Daniel on this significant event.

In Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand a project of creating Russian cultural center and school under the temple of Holy Life-Giving Trinity on Phuket was discussed.
In Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand a meeting of Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand's Administration, representatives of Russian Embassy in Thailand and others concerned took place. A question of creating Russian cultural center and school under Holy Life-Giving Trinity's Chapel on Phuket was discussed. In the end it was decided to continue the consultation on a higher level to discuss a variety of questions on possible funding of the project.

Daniel (Danai) Wanna, Chairman of Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation, has departed for Russia where his ordination as a priest is planned.
Daniel (Danai) Wanna, St. Petersburg Theological Academy's graduate, Chairman of Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand has departed for Russia, where in Cathedral of Smolensk on 28th of August, on the day of Assumption of the Most Holy Our Lady Mother of God, the Ever-Virgin Mary, His Eminence Kirill, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad will perform Daniel (Danai) Wanna's ordination as a deacon. After that on one of the approaching days Danai (Daniel) Wanna's ordination as a priest is planned. For a month Danai will be having divine serving practice in cathedral of Smolensk, after which he will come back to divine service in Kingdom of Thailand.

Parochial council of St. Nicholas' Chapel in Bangkok has made a decision to abstain from ecumenic meeting.
A session of Parish council of St. Nicholas' chapel of Bangkok took place. On the agenda a proposal was examined concerning Orthodoxes' taking part in joint prayer meeting, that was received from ecumenic residental parish in Taize (France). After giving careful consideration to the proposal, Parish council made a decision not to participate in joint ecumenic meeting.

St. Nicholas' parish of Bangkok received guest students from Moscow Theological Academy, who are at the moment studying Chinese in educational institutions of Taiwan. Their stay in Bangkok was connected with the necessity of reissuing corresponding visas.

Representatives of administration of Phuket province have visited the main office of Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation.
Main office of Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand was visited by representatives of Phuket province (Kingdom of Thailand). The goal of the visit was getting acquainted with Orthodoxy and Foundation of Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand's social activities. Representatives of Phuket's administration had a conversation with Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), representative of the Foundation Daniel (Danai) Wanna, and attended daily divine service in St. Nicholas Wonder-Worker, Archbishop of Mira in Lycia's chapel. The visit of Phuket's administration representatives was related to the decision of building an Orthodox church on Phuket in the name of Holy Life-Giving Trinity.
