Representatives of Orthodoxy in Thailand attended a reception on the occasion of the Day of people's educators of Bulgaria.

On the invitation of Bulgaria's chargé d'affaires ad interim in the Kingdom of Thailand Mrs. Krasimira Georgieva Trifonova and by blessing of the Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), Chairman of Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation, the clergyman of the St. Nicholas' chapel in Bangkok deacon Daniel Wanna with his spouse and Representative's assistant Dr. Vladimir Buntilov have attended a reception on the occasion of a national holiday - the Day of people's educators of Bulgaria.

People's educators were those who for many centuries had been arousing Bulgarian self-consciousness by fighting for freedom of their country, strengthening Christian faith and giving people knowledge. Among those were Rev. John Rylsky, Paisius Hideldarsky who was the first Slavic-Bulgarian historian, monk-educator Sophronius Vrachansky, fighters for Bulgaria's freedom Basil Levsky, Gergy Rakovsky, poet Christo Botev, writer Ivan Vazov and others.

During the reception deacon Daniel had a conversation with Mrs. Krasimira Georgieva Trifonova, the employees of Bulgarian Embassy in Bangkok, the diplomatic representatives of other countries who were accredited in Thailand, politicians and public figures of the Kingdom. Dr. Vladimir Buntilov conveyed the greetings from hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), which highlighted the importance of People's educators Day alongside with another national holiday of Bulgaria - The Day of Osman Unyoke (3rd of March). According to Russian Orthodox Church Representative, these holidays are closely related to each other. The internal liberation, the rise in Christian faith, the love to the country are those factors which made the Bulgarians politically independent.

A car exploded not far from the Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the Chapel of Saint Nicholas, Arch-bishop of Mira in Lycia, and the office of the Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand.

On the day of October the 8th, in Sukhothai street, just a couple hundred metres from the Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the Chapel of Saint Nicholas, Arch-bishop of Mira in Lycia, and the office of the Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand, a car was exploded, and one person died. Nobody of the believers was wounded. There is no information on wounded or dead foreigners in Bangkok either.

In connection with the existing danger and transport problems in the area of Chitlada palace, Parliament and other government structures' buildings, where Representation of Moscow Patriarchate is located, hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand and dean of St. Nicholas' chapel asked the Orthodox believers not to attend the church on weekdays for their own safety, and expressed his hope for quick stabilisation of the political situation. A moleben for peace and prosperity of the Kingdom, and for liberation from the internecine wars was conducted in St. Nicholas' Chapel.

New collisions took place between the marchers and the police.

The day before (7th of October) in Bangkok, capital city of Thailand, new collisions took place between the marchers supporting political opposition - People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and the police executing the orders of the ruling government. The marchers blocked the country's Parliament building by occupying a considerable plot of territory around it and by blocking all the ways to it. The government ordered the police to use tear gas against the rebels. As a result of this struggle, more than 358 people were wounded.

As is was before, political marches are demonstrated considerably close to the Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand, and, although they haven't affected the divine service directly, yet the closure of some streets by police and driving limitation make it hard for the believers to attend church by the Representation of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit is very concerned about the situation. The Royal Court Bureau stated that it would cover all the expenses offering treatment to the injured people.

Deacon Daniel (Wanna), chairman of the Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand's Committee, expressed his will to support Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's charitable initiative and offered 10 000 Thai baht for help and treatment purposes. Chairman of Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand's Committee deacon Daniel Wanna had a business trip to Phuket where he visited the province's administration.

Chairman of Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand's Committee, a member of clergy of St. Nicholas' Chapel of Moscow Patriarchate, deacon Daniel Wanna had a business trip to Phuket where he visited the province's administration. The matter of the discussion were plans of Orthodox Church in Thailand to build a temple and Russian cultural centre, as well as school on this resort island with many Orthodox believers living there. For that purpose some time ago Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand purchased a 4200 sq. km. plot of land in this area. The existing regulations in this kind of construction in Thailand requires a detailed endorsement of the project by local government, whose decision is affirmed by the resolution of province's governor. At present, the process of endorsement has entered the final stage. Representative of Phuket's governor, who is in charge of preparing his resolution on this matter, after discussing some details of the project, went to examine the reserved plot of land with Fr. Daniel. According to the governor's representative, from the administration's side there are no obstructions to realisation of Orthodox Church's plans on Phuket.

There was a general meeting of leaders and representatives of Christian confessions of the Kingdom, devoted to the topic of the search for Christian unity.

By the initiative of the Roman Catholic Church in Thailand there was a general meeting of leaders and representatives of Christian confessions of the Kingdom, devoted to the topic of the search for Christian unity. The meeting took place at the Catholic Hospital of St. Louis in Bangkok. The meeting was attended by the following members of the Orthodox community: Deacon Daniel Wanna - cleric of St. Nicholas' chapel (Moscow Patriarchate) in Bangkok, the chairman of the Foundation of Orthodox Church in Thailand, Mrs. Elena Wanna - Regent of St. Nicholas' Chapel, and Dr. Vladimir Buntilov, assistant to the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand.
All the Christian confessions in Thailand were able to bring up their views on Christian unity. Participants of the meeting also discussed their schedule for further joint activities in 2009.

Hegumen Oleg serviced a holy-water moleben at the Embassy of Bulgaria in the Kingdom of Thailand.

On the invitation of Charge d'affaires of Bulgaria in the Kingdom of Thailand Mrs. Krasimira Georgieva Trifonova, Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand, dean of St. Nicholas' chapel in Bangkok, deacon Daniel (Wanna) and psalm reader of the chapel Dr. Vladimir Buntilov visited the Embassy of Bulgaria. Hegumen Oleg serviced a holy-water moleben, during which there were also proclaimed the askings of health and welfare for all members of the Bulgarian Embassy, and God's blessing for every good deed. In addition to the Orthodox Embassy staff there also prayed Thais, who were serving for diplomatic mission of Bulgaria. After completing the prayer all the rooms of Embassy of Bulgaria in Thailand were blessed with holy water. After that Mrs. Krasimira Georgieva Trifonova arranged tea ceremony for the clergy and priests, which took place during a natural conversation. Mrs. Charge d'affaires of Bulgaria spoke Russian, which she had learned at school and, as she said, she was extremely pleased to be able to reuse her language skills. Hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) invited Mrs. Krasimira Georgieva Trifonova to visit St. Nicholas' parish and expressed his hopes for her to become an active member of the Orthodox parish of Bangkok.

Parishioners congratulated the dean of St. Nicholas' chapel in Thailand hegumen Oleg on his saint's day.

Divine Liturgy was serviced in the chapel of St. Nicholas Wonderworker, Archbishop of Mira in Lycia in Bangkok. The memorial day of the St. Oleg, The Prince of Bryansk, is the saint's day of Dean of the chapel, Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin). On that day, parishioners came to the temple to congratulate Fr. Oleg and to wish him good health and God's blessing for his ministry for the good of the Holy Orthodox Church. At the end of Divine Liturgy deacon Daniel (Wanna), wished the dean a long life, and the believers presented him a bouquet of roses and a name-pie. In the parish house there was a tea ceremony as well.

It was decided to establish the patronage of Orthodox believers over the College of Technology in the province of Prachinburi.

There has been a meeting of the commission on the charity activities of St. Nicholas's parish in Bangkok and the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand. At the end of the meeting it was decided to establish the patronage of Orthodox believers over the College of Technology in the province of Prachinburi. Using a specially dedicated fund of the parish and the Foundation, monetary grants will be set to support students from poor families, who showed considerable educational success. The administration of the Technology College accepted this decision with courage and arranged proper testing of the students to prepare the list of scholarship holders. The peculiarity of the charity commission and the Foundation's decision is that the scholarships will be granted to the students regardless of their religious beliefs.

Fr. Daniel (Danai) Wanna started his divine service in St. Nicholas' parish in Bangkok.

THE EXALTATION OF THE HONOURED AND LIFE-GIVING CROSS. On this day Daniel (Danai) Wanna, who had returned from Russia where he was ordained by His Eminence Kirill, Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, started his divine service in St. Nicholas' parish in Bangkok. The parishioners warmly received Fr. Daniel and wished him divine help in serving for God and His Holy Church. In return, deacon Daniel thanked the dean of the chapel and the parishioners for care and spiritual and financial support during all his educational period in the seminary. He also said that he had entered first year of Theological Academy of St. Petersburg, where he intends to continue his education by correspondence.

Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand attended a mourning meeting at Russian Embassy in Bangkok on the occasion of 40th day since the beginning of Georgian-SouthOssetian conflict.

The Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) attended a mourning ceremony in the Embassy of Russian Federation in Bangkok on the occasion of 40th day since the beginning of Georgian-SouthOssetian conflict, in which many civilians and Russian peacemakers died. In the reception hall of the embassy a photo excibition was organized, clearly demonstrating what happened in Tskhinvali those days. His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Russia in Thailand E.V. Afanasiev in his speech narrated about the events in South Ossetia, marking them as «genocide» of Ossetian nation, and Russia's actions for supporting a friendly Ossetian nation and our fellow countrymen who live there. After that hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) was called on. After sharing the sorrow for those who died in the conflict, hegumen Oleg conducted a funeral litiya. The meeting ended with a common prayer to the God for the repose of all who were killed in Georgian-SouthOssetian conflict.
