Fundraising Committee Meeting of the Orthodox Church in Thailand.
The Committee of the Foundation of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand met, chaired by fr. Danai Wanna. The representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) also attended. On the agenda was discussion of the development of church life in the parish of Holy Ascension, Samui island (Surat Thani province). Due to the fact that Holy Ascension parish has collected and transferred to the Christian Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation sufficient funds to purchase a piece of land on the island for the construction of an Orthodox church, it was decided:
- to send after August 20 to Samui priest Danai Wanna and together with the local Orthodox believers to consider various proposals for land
- to decide on the basis of the available budget, buying the best possible option, suitable for the construction of the temple and home for the priest
- to obtain a piece of land for church property with the consent of the Orthodox community of Samui and concurrently begin the process with the local authorities to register this land with religious status
- to ask hegumen Oleg also to find an opportunity to personally visit Samui and bless their decisions
- to include, if possible, Samui in the program of celebrating the 10th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Thailand

Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Traditionally in Thailand Mother's Day is celebrated the same day as the Queen’s birthday. In St. Nicholas Chapel, Bangkok hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand (Moscow Patriarchate) offered a prayer service for the health and wellbeing of Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal House. Also hegumen Oleg congratulated all mothers for Mother's Day in Thailand and encouraged respect and care for parents, which was commanded by God to the Prophet Moses.

Memorial service at the St. Nicholas Chapel in Bangkok.
A Saturday memorial for the repose of Orthodox Christians killed in the Georgian - South Ossetian conflict and all fratricidal wars was served at the St. Nicholas Chapel in Bangkok, Thailand.
The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand, hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) and the first Thai Orthodox Priest Danai (Daniel) Wanna together with the parishioners prayed to the Lord for the repose of souls of Orthodox Christians in the "internecine battles”».
"Today we pray for the souls of not only those who were killed in the Georgian - Ossetian conflict, but also for those who died in all other fratricidal wars of mankind since the day when Cain raised his hand against Abel," - said hegumen Oleg in a sermon after the memorial.

Young Couple joined in Holy Matrimony.
Having accepted the sacrament of Holy Baptism a few weeks prior, a local couple, named in Orthodoxy, Stephen and Pelagia also decided to have their civil marriage blessed in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Priest Daniel Wanna served the wedding. Thai and Slavonic languages were used to explain the meaning of certain rituals. Fr. Danai preached in Thai about the Christian life in marriage. After the sacrament of Matrimony, parishioners congratulated the young couple, who then came together to the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand to seek his blessing. Hegumen Oleg congratulated Stephen and Pelagia and on behalf of the parish presented them a wedding gift.

Priest Danai (Daniel) Wanna makes pastoral visit to Phuket.
Priest Danai (Daniel) Wanna made his first pastoral visit to Phuket at the invitation of the Parish Council of the Holy Trinity Church. During the trip, fr. Danai performed the divine services for the local congregation and baptized three people. The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) was also in Phuket preparing for the 10th anniversary of Orthodoxy in Thailand. Hegumen Oleg met and discussed with several officials the upcoming festivities of the Church, including the visiting bishops who would join the celebration of Orthodoxy in Thailand, with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. The clergy returned to Bangkok the same evening.

Meeting at Russian Embassy.
Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) and priest Daniel (Danai) Wanna visited the Embassy of Russian Federation in Thailand, where they were met by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia Mr. E.V. Afanasiev. Hegumen Oleg introduced priest Daniel to Mr. Ambassador in his new position - as a priest of Russian Orthodox Church (he was ordained on July the 5th this year in Moscow). His Excellency congratulated priest Daniel (Danai) Wanna on his ordination and assured him in all-out support. Priest Daniel (Danai) Wanna was guided through the territory of the Russian Embassy where his parishioners live.
In addition, during Thai Orthodox priesthood's meeting with the Ambassador of Russia, some details on the upcoming December 2009 festivities were discussed. Those were related to 10-th anniversary of Orthodoxy in the land of Thailand.

Dr. Vladimir Buntilov's Ph.D. degree ceremony.
Vladimir Mikhailovich Buntilov, Assistant Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand, officially received Ph.D. degree during the ceremony at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Vladimir dedicated his thesis on satellite remote sensing of Earth to his spiritual father - hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), and defended it last year, receiving Ph.D. degree and becoming professor of Mahidol University (department of computer engineering) in Bangkok. However, the official ceremony, by the tradition of Nanyang Technological University, took place one year later.

Despite his scientific and teaching activity at university, Vladimir remains fr. Oleg's right hand, assisting him both in pastoral and religio-diplomatic activities. On such an important occasion in V.M. Buntilov's life and on the invitation of Nanyang Technological University administration, Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in the Kingdom of Thailand also attended that ceremony in Singapore.

Priest Daniel Wanna arrives in Thailand.
Scores of Orthodox believers, including local citizens, gathered at Suvarnabhumi International airport in Bangkok to meet his new pastor - Daniel (Danai) Wanna, who returned from Russia where he was ordained on July the 5th at the church of Holy Life-Giving Trinity at Horoshevo (Moscow) by bishop Mark of Egorievsk, Secretary of Moscow Patriarchia for foreign parishes, with the blessing of the Most Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
The believers hastened to receive the first blessing of the new priest, and presented a bouquet of flowers to his spouse Elena. Later that day, Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) and parish council of St. Nicholas' Chapel of Bangkok arranged a festive supper in honour of the new Orthodox priest in the land of Thailand.

On the invitation of the Ambassadors of Orthodox countries accredited in Bangkok, fr. Daniel (Danai) Wanna intends to pay a visit to their Embassies as a priest. Also, priest Daniel (Danai) Wanna is planning to pay a courtesy visit to the head of Buddhist sangha of Thailand, leaders of other religious confessions in the Kingdom, as well as the Thailand's Department of Religion under the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Interiors of the country.
It is planned that fr. Daniel (Danai) Wanna would do priest service at St. Nicholas' Chapel of Bangkok, and, by the blessing of Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), he would also take pastoral care of other Orthodox parishes in Thailand. Special responsibility is placed on fr. Daniel (Wanna) in terms of his spiritual guidance of Thai Orthodox people.

Current state of All Saints' church construction in Pattaya.
Representative of Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), accompanied by construction managers and Mr. Vicha, the architect, made an inspection tour to Pattaya (Chonburi province), where he saw for himself the state of construction works related to All Saints' Church. Members of the future church parish council also participated in the inspection. It was agreed that construction was carried on thoroughly according to the contract. Hegumen Oleg held a public prayer and a prayer to All Saints in the construction site, and officially thanked the workers and the donators. That same day hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin) returned to Bangkok. He also plans to come to the island of Phuket with similar inspection purposes on Saturday, August the 1st, accompanied by Daniel (Danai) Wanna.

Attending the new Russian-language channel opening ceremony in Pattaya.
Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand hegumen Oleg (Cherepanin), accompanied by the monk Nicholas (Raicea) attended the official part of the presentation of the new Russian-language TV channel in Pattaya (Chonburi province). The new channel is created by a group of businessmen interested in attracting Russian-speaking clients' attention, mainly to the sphere of real estate. During the presentation, the businessmen collected donations for the construction of the All Saints Orthodox church in Pattaya, and ensured hegumen Oleg that the new channel would completely exclude the advertisements of seedy entertainment and the corresponding institutions from its broadcast. Representatives of Pattaya administration also attended the ceremony.
