The next meeting of the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand.

Members of the the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation examined the report of Mr. Panya Vonmayrattanakun of P&P Construction, who under contract, is supervising the construction of Orthodox churches. The Foundation expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work in Pattaya and Phuket.

The Foundation decided to cancel the debt of Holy Trinity parish in Phuket in the amount of 2,000,000 Thai baht, due to the fact that Holy Trinity is the largest Orthodox church planned to be constructed in Thailand and especially considering the difficult economic situation of the parish. The additional financial support from the Foundation for Phuket were denied. The parish was offered to find the necessary material means alone.

Chairman of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation, priest Daniel Wanna presented members with a proposal to increase the budget for the construction of the Holy Dormition Church in Ratchaburi province, from 2,000,000 to 4,000,000 Thai Baht. This need, in the words of fr. Daniel, arose from the fact that the previously approved budget only provided for the construction of the temple building itself. While the proposed increase considers not only the construction of the temple, but also accounts for the priest’s home, outbuildings and landscaping. Mr. Panya Vonmayrattanakun showed members the permission from the authorities to initiate the construction work. He said that the construction team had already moved to Ratchaburi where they are ready to begin construction immediately. Following discussion, it was decided to increase the construction budget 4,000,000 baht. The foundation allocated 2,000,000 baht for the first phase of construction. Full payment for construction of the Holy Dormition church in Ratchaburi will be financially supported byt the Foundation.
