Working visit of archimandrite Oleg to the province of Ratchaburi.
The Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) visited the province of Ratchaburi, where he blessed the church dome of the Holy Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as checked the finishing construction works. He was accompanied by assistant to the Representative, Dr. Vladmir Buntilov and the heads of construction. The consecration of the new church is planned in the second half of October 2010.

Condolences to Mr. Michel de Valliere regard to the death of his brother Alexander.
The Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand, the clergy and laity of the Orthodox Church in Thailand express their sincere and deepest condolences to the Deputy Chairman of the parish council of St. Nicholas Church in Bangkok, Mr. Michel de Valliere in regards to the death of his 78 year old brother Alexander, who passed after a long and serious illness in France.

A memorial service for the repose of Alexander will be held at the Chapel of St. Nicholas in Bangkok, June 6, 2010 at 11:30 am, and at All Saints Church in Pattaya, June 5, 2010 at 10:00 am.

All saints sunday - the patronal feast the Church of All Saints in Pattaya.
For the first time, the patronal feast of All Saints was celebrated in Pattaya, Chonburi provine. The Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) and the Chairman of the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand priest Daniel Wanna concelebrated Divine Liturgy. During the services, the congregation was made up of not only of the local parish, but also believers from Bangkok, Phuket and other areas of the Kingdom. Many confessed and partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, special intercession was made before the miraculous icon of St. Nicholas, archbishop of Myra for the country's political hostility, and for the peace and the proliferation of love. Then a procession of the miraculous icon of St. Nicholas was made around the temple. For the special occasion of the feast, the pilgrims were able to directly touch the miracle-working icon, removed out of the kiot in which is usually stored. After the dismissal, archimandrite Oleg announced the opening of catechism courses in Pattaya, to be held on Sunday evening in the refectory hall at All Saints. Catechism classes will be preceded by a prayer service in the church at the miraculous icon of St. Nicholas.
On the same day, for the occasion, members of All Saints arranged a dinner to which all were invited, especially for those who had traveled for the holiday.

Progress on the construction of the temple of the Holy Trinity in Phuket.
The Committee of the Orthodox Chrsitian Church in Thailand Foundation (Moscow Patriarchate) discussed the construction of the temple of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity on Phuket. Construction photos were shown. The Chairman of the Foundation Committee priest Daniel Wanna reported extremely low donations from members of the Holy Trinity parish in Phuket, which is due in part to the financial and economic crisis and political instability in the country, but also the many lukewarm parishioners who do not feel responsible for the construction of a temple on Phuket. At present, load-bearing walls are being built. The next stage is the structure of the roof. The masonry walls will be started immediately.
The Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) expressed his perspective of the problems associated with the construction of the temple. In his opinion, the indifference is due to the lack of a priest in the parish. Accordingly, the need to communicate with people is important. As a result of discussions, the Committee of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation decided to continue the construction work of the Holy Trinity Church on Phuket and to finance the next phase of construction.

Extreme aggravation of the political situation in Thailand.
Statement of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand
Due to sharply escalating political confrontation in Thailand, the death of dozens of people, both Thais and foreigners, the state of emergency in several regions of the country and the curfew that restricts freedom of movement after dark, the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand and the Committee of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation feel compelled to state that Orthodox Christians of the Kingdom deeply mourn the victims of fratricidal mezhduusobitsy and thrilled acts of arson and vandalism on shopping centers in Bangkok, especially the looting of "Central World", a favorite destination of local residents. We hope that these acts will be condemned by both the government and the opposition.
There are serious concerns about the economic implications for the country in political upheaval. Thailand's leading resorts are empty. Many commercial companies related to tourism are close to bankruptcy and the sale of real estate by foreigners is almost frozen.
The frightening statement of opposition leaders about the possibility of all-out civil war, would be absolute madness. All this is not good for the country, which we love.
For the first time, the activities of the Orthodox Church in Thailand are complicated in the Kingdom because of the situation. Many of our faithful cannot get to church because whole neighborhoods of Bangkok have been affected, due to the fear of the irresponsible actions of the opposing sides of the conflict. Decreased attendance in churches have resulted in a loss of donation forcing cost cutting meansures, including the social activities which currently should be increased. The construction of temples in Phuket and Samui are jeopardized.Whatever happens, the Orthodox Church in Thailand will remain with the Thai people in every situation and is ready to provide all possible assistance to the victims, regardless of their political or religious beliefs, seeing only a favorite in every suffering child.
We believe in the wisdom of the Thai people, we believe that they will find the strength to resolve all issues peacefully through the negotiation and cooperation of all the political forces of the country for the benefit of the nation.
The Orthodox Church in Thailand urges her flock to daily pray for the cessation of the armed conflict, the multiplication of peace and love between half-brothers.God have mercy on all of us! Yes, he will give peace and prosperity to the blessed land of Thailand!

New icon in the Church of All Saints in Pattaya.
The Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) paid a pastoral visit to All Saints Church in Pattaya. After the Divine Liturgy commemorating the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, fr. Oleg presented an icon of Our Lady of Kazan. The icon was donated by one pilgrim, servant of God George who visited Pattaya a few months previously. A thanksgiving service was prayed before the image of the Mother of God. Fr. Oleg asked priest Daniel Wanna, priest-in-charge of All Saints Church in Pattaya, to place the icon in a kiot. Parishioners were grateful to God and the donor for the icon of the Queen of Heaven.

Official travel of archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) to Moscow.
From 13 to 19 May 2010, the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand, archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) conducted a business trip to Moscow. During this time, archimandrite Oleg met archbishop Mark of Egorievsk, Secretary of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for foreign institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church. With the archbishop, he discussed the development of Orthodox presence in the Kingdom of Thailand. Also fr. Oleg met with students of the missionary school at the church of apostle Thomas on Kantemirovskaya where a well-known Orthodox missionary, priest Daniel Sysoev was murdered. Fr. Oleg also met with students of missionary faculty of St. Tikhon Theological Institute in Moscow, and, in addition, he was busy with the economic needs of the Orthodox Church in Thailand. May 20, archimandrite Oleg returned in Bangkok to take up his regular duties.

65th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War .
In connection with the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Chapel of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Bangkok held a memorial service following Divine Liturgy for all the victims and for protection the independence of Russia. The Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) officiated the memorial. In his address to the congregation for the occasion, fr. Oleg emphasized the importance of the Victory for every Orthodox person, because on this day we remember those who fulfilled the commandment of the Lord of Love, "GREATER LOVE HATH NO, IF ANY MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS" (John 15:13).
On the same day’s evening, fr. Oleg concelebrated with priest Daniel Wanna in a memorial at All Saints Church, Pattaya. Fr. Oleg visited a festive reception on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Victory Day at the "Long Beach" hotel, to which he addressed the audience with a speech. Long applause greeted the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia for the inclusion of the victory within the church calendar, as well as a thanksgiving prayer and memorial service for the victims of the Great Patriotic War. A gala reception was attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, specially invited to Thailand on holiday by the organizers of the celebration, diplomatic representatives, the mayor of Pattaya Mr. Itthiphol Kunplome, head of the TAT (tourist authorities) in Chonburi province and the other guests. Honoring veterans was accompanied by a concert of songs from World War II and the 65th volleys fireworks.

Especially valuable is the fact that the meeting was organized by private companies and individuals without any official guidance, by their own initiative and will of the heart. The sponsors of the evening were: "Transaero", "Intourist», «Holly Day Inn Co., Ltd.», a group of companies "RUSSIAN HOUSE." The festive reception was also attended by the Chairman of the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand, a cleric of St. Nicholas Church in Bangkok priest Daniel Wanna with his wife.

Reception for the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
At the invitation of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine, the charge d'affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) attended a reception on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. At the reception were high ranking Thai officials, the diplomatic corps and representatives of public organizations.

Reception into the Orthodox Church of Mr. Gabriel Etoundi.
Before the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Nicholas in Bangkok, the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) performed the rite reception into the Orthodox Church from the Roman Catholic faith a citizen of the Republic of Cameroon, Mr. Gabriel Etoundi. The reception came after the renunciation of the errors of Catholicism, confession of the unchanged Nicene-Constantinople Creed and chrismation. Servant of God Gabriel spent about half a year under the spiritual guidance of the monk Seraphim (Raicea). At the service, Gabriel received the Holy Mysteries of Christ in the Orthodox Church for the first time. Parishioners congratulated the new convert. In Thailand, Mr. Gabriel Etoundi works as a teacher of French.
