Also directors of the construction company carrying out the construction of the temple were invited to explain the status. The initial construction schedule has been delayed for more than a month. The builders satisfactorily explained the main reason for the slowdown was the abnormal weather conditions in Phuket, prolonged heavy rain and wind. This is despite the fact that the rainy season has usually finished at this time. The weather makes the plastering and aerial work on the temple impossible. Builders assured that in the past few days, since the weather improved, work on the temple accelerated. Soon the roof structure and the dome of the temple will be mounted. Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) expressed his desire to personally visit Phuket in the coming weeks and monitor the progress of construction on the site, as well as start sketching the interior of the temple.

Mr. Suthorn Srusuno at the Tomsk Orthodox Seminary |
In September 2010, Tomsk seminary sent Evgeny Petrov, a fourth-year student, for missionary and catechetical ministry, helping Thais and Russians living in the country. He then will return to the seminary to write his thesis, the theme of which will be mission in Thailand, for graduation.
According to archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), upon arrival in Thailand Evgeny was sent to Pattaya to the Church of All Saints, where he will be cantor. The rector of the temple is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary, priest Daniel Wanna who is the first Thai native to became an Orthodox priest.
In the future, the Tomsk diocese will also provide financial support for the Orthodox theological education of indigenous Thais and subsequent pastoral ministry, perhaps including the opportunity to study in the Tomsk seminary. The Tomsk diocese will bear the seminarians’ cost of living including their families who are deprived of a breadwinner at the time of his training in distant Russia.
Archbishop of Tomsk and Asino Rostislav explained the need and importance of such cooperation and assistance:

Secondly, Tomsk seminary will be an invaluable experience. At the beginning of 20th century there was supposed to open a fifth Orthodox Theological Academy in Tomsk, which was to prepare the missionaries to the East and South Asia. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the First World War, and then the October Revolution, these plans did not materialize.
Now those old plans have begun to come alive. Of course, talk about the creation in Tomsk of such academy is too early, but Tomsk theological seminary is now strong enough to prepare missionaries for these regions, including from the local Orthodox Christians".
