Evening of Russian language and culture at the University of Thammasat.
Thammasat University hosted an evening dedicated to Russian language and culture. This event was dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand.
For the concert teachers and students practiced Russian poems. Students of the program for Russian language and Philology sang Russian folk songs and ballads, popular Russian and Thai pop songs, and danced the dance of "My Russia" and "Kalinka".

In attendance were compatriots living and working in Thailand and neighboring countries, representatives of the Russian Embassy in Thailand, teachers of various local universities and numerous visitors who are interested in Russia and Russian culture.
Representing the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand that evening was assistant to the Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand, Dr. Vladimir Buntilov. Participants were given a concert disc with the movie "The Priest" with subtitles in Thai.

Tour of reliquary of St. Nicholas continues in Thailand.
From December 6 to 10, 2012 the reliquary of St. Nicholas the Wonder-worker, archbishop of Myra were present at Holy Trinity Church on Phuket. More than 600 people were able to venerate the holy relics. From 6:00 in the morning to midnight, molebens and akathists to the great saint of God were served. On Sunday after the Divine Liturgy, there was a procession with the holy relics around the temple. Together with the holy relics was the miraculous icon of St. Nicholas, normally kept in All Saints Church in Pattaya, which is the main shrine of the Orthodox Church in Thailand, famous for many miracles and healings.

The movie «The Priest» («บาทหลวง») with subtitles in Thai will be distributed at the parishes in Thailand.
With the blessing of His Eminence archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, Head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for foreign institutions, the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand recorded 200 DVD discs of the film «The Priest» («บาทหลวง») directed by Vladimir Khotinenko with subtitles in Thai. This film will be distributed to the Orthodox parishes in Thailand, so that Orthodox Thais, as well as local residents who are interested in Russian history and culture could view it in their language. Also part of the DVDs will be distributed to universities in Thailand that train specialists in Russian. In addition, the planned presentation of the film "The priest" with subtitles in Thai will be seen on local channels in Pattaya and Phuket.
Earlier the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand sought the appropriate permission from the owner of this film - the Cultural Foundation TV-movie company "Orthodox Encyclopedia", which has given the permission to translate and screen it in Thailand in the requested parameters (Letter №854 on 17.08.2012).

Reference: «The Priest» — Russian historical film by director Vladimir Khotinenko. This is the first feature film made under the auspices of the Moscow Patriarchate, and with the active participation of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia.
The film relates the little-known history of the Great Patriotic War and the activity of the Pskov Orthodox mission. From August 1941 to February 1944 priests from the Baltic were reviving church life in the German-occupied territories, from Pskov to Leningrad.

Holy Trinity Church prepares to meet the holy relics of St. Nicholas.
In anticipation of the arrival of the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, archbishop of Myra in Thailand, Sunday school students at Holy Trinity Church on Phuket under the direction of priest Alexei Golovin prepared a layout model depicting the shrine’s visit to the island. The local Russian-language TV channel made a report on the preparation of the visit of the holy relics of the great saint of God.

Letter from the King of Cambodia His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni to the Representative of Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand.
His Majesty the King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni has sent his personal message to the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), in which, in particular, His Majesty wrote:

Roman Bychkov ordained as deacon.
With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, catechist Roman Bychkov of Holy Trinity Church in Phuket was ordained a deacon. The ordination was performed by His Eminence archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, Head of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for foreign institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church in the temple of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in Khoroshevo, Moscow. Deacon Roman will have liturgical practice prescribed in Elohovsky Epiphany Cathedral of the capital. It is expected that soon Deacon Roman Bychkov will be ordained priest and sent back to the pastoral ministry in the Kingdom of Thailand.
The Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand, the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand, parish councils of churches, clergy and Orthodox congregations congratulate deacon Roman, wishing all the best for the Lord and even more zealous service to God and the Church of Southeast Asia.

One more Thai native received into Orthodoxy.
The sacrament of Holy Baptism was committed in the church of St. Nicholas in Bangkok for Ms. Chayaporn Thammawat. Ms. Thammavat was acquainted with the Orthodox faith through her Bulgarian Orthodox acquaintances. In Orthodoxy Chayaporn was baptized Chudoslava.

Orthodox Church in Thailand provides charitable scholarships for students from Prachinburi province.
The Committee of the Orthodox Christian Church in Thailand Foundation considered several requests to provide material assistance to students from the Technology College in Prachinburi province. By request of the college and learning the need directly, the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand has approved two grants totaling 18,000 Thai baht, 9,000 each. Scholarships and assistance to students from low-income families are the traditional charity event of the Orthodox Church in Thailand, taking place each year before the Nativity Fast.

Russian-Laotian Orthodox prayer book published.
A parallel Russian-Laotian Orthodox prayer book has been published. The publication under the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand, is part of the pastoral responsibility to the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Financial support for the publication was provided by the Foundation of the Orthodox Church in Thailand. The volume was edited by archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand. Peter (Pone) Somepheth and Anthony (Tongkham) Phiaxayavong, currently seminarians at St. Petersburg Theological Seminary, translated the text from Thai. Dr. Vladimir Buntilov was in charge of formatting and design. Five hundred copies will be sent to the Orthodox believers in Laos, as well as several copies going to religious educational institutions in Russia and missionary organizations.

November 6 Patriarch Maxim of Bulgaria, oldest primate among the Orthodox Churches, fell asleep in the Lord.
The Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand expresses its sincere condolences to all believers in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The future Primate of the Bulgarian Church was born Marin Minkov October 29, 1914 in the village of Oreshak Troyan-Lovchansky District of Bulgaria to a pious working family.
In 1935, he graduated with honors from the Sofia Seminary and in 1942, the St. Clement of Ochrid Theological Faculty of the Sofia State University.
In the last year of the study, December 13, 1941, he was tonsured with the name Maxim, and on December 19 he was ordained a deacon. After a short service as a deacon in the metropolitan city of Lovech, he was appointed a teacher and educator at Sophia Seminary. He held this position from 1942 to 1947.
May 14, 1944 he was ordained to the priesthood, and October 12, 1947 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite and appointed dean of Dorostol-Cherven Metropolis.
In the 1950 by decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church he was appointed rector of the Bulgarian town church in Moscow. This ministry in Moscow lasted for almost six years, until the end of 1955.
After his return home he was appointed chief secretary of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Church (a position he held in 1955-1960) and Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Synodal periodicals (1957-1960 years).
December 30, 1956 he was consecrated Bishop Branitsky.
October 30, 1960 he was appointed Metropolitan Lovchansky.
In the national electoral council of Bulgarian Orthodox Church held 4-8 July 1971 in the Sofia Patriarchal Church, Metropolitan Lovchansky Maxim was elected to the Patriarchal throne.
The enthronement of the 21st Patriarch of Bulgaria took place on 4 July 1971, in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.
